Spring Break Chic: Staycation Outfit Details

By | Fashion | One Comment

While staying home for spring break you can still have fun with your outfits! Even if it’s a tad chilly just prepare to bring a light jacket but part of the fun of fashion is getting out of your comfort zone and in Minnesota 40s and 50s can feel like 70s! Ha! But still why not rock some fun spring heels and a fun outfit? I say go for it! There is a huge trend in flows bell sleeves and cropped tie shirts..I paired it with a soft suede high waisted skirt. Floral prints are another huge trend that you will see all spring as well! With the busy floral print I didn’t go overly crazy with accessorizing. I pulled out a fun purse and went for some classic gold hoops.

shirt: American Eagle

skirt: Express

sunglasses and shoes: Target

bag: Michael Kors outlet stores

Positive “Peace” of Mind

By | Lifestyle | One Comment

Part of mallyk.net is promoting a positive lifestyle and how to choose happiness at all times. Life is honestly what you make it and part of my main purpose through this website and even through my brand is wanting people to feel good inside and out. I would say that feeling good is a journey for us all, there is no handbook on life’s tough situations or how to handle the curve balls life can throw at you but the main thing I have learned through everyone and everything I have encountered in my life is how to have peace of mind.

I would say finding peace of mind is almost like an enlightening sense that just kind of washes over you with time. Letting go of the past, not holding grudges and just letting things be if you will can help you reach peace within. It is really hard this day and age not to constantly compare ourselves or pick ourselves apart, and if there is one thing I cannot stress enough is that YOU, you alone are ENOUGH. Everyone is special and unique in their own right and if we all took a moment to just help build each other up I am telling you the world would be such a light place. But here is the beauty in all of this, you can be the start of it. You can help those around you help feel the light.

It took me a long time to feel the “light”…maybe its my old age (30) hehe that has gotten me to this frame of mind. But I truly wish I could give it to everyone. There is calming sensation that happens to your mind and heart when you realize that everything will take its course and that if you are a spiritual person like I am God truly has a plan and it will all work out if you have faith. I have worked with people through times of my own grief and negativity and I honestly highly suggest even a life coach when you, yourself cannot navigate through your own thoughts clearly. Self help and self love is the best thing you can do for yourself. When you love yourself it is so much easier to love and help others. Take care of yourself and be kind to yourself!

Peace of mind comes when you accept yourself for who you are! Its loving every weird quirk you have, the snort when you laugh, the silly things you say. Its going after your goals, dreams and passions and being relentless about what “set your soul on fire”. Do not listen to the negative people out there. Do not listen when people put you down or tell you you can’t do something. Yes you can. You want to lose weight? You can! You want to launch your own business? You can! You literally can do anything you want when you start to turn your thoughts of can’t into can.

I promise you once you make positive thinking and self affirmations part of your routine and knowing that you are a truly special human being on this earth worthy of everything, there will start to be a shift in your mind. You will feel genuinely happy deep within. You will find it easier to just be you and do what you want and help others feel wonderful too!

Some positive rules I live by:

  1. Read self help, positivity books…I am telling you these books light a fire within and make you want to get out there and be the best you possible.
  2. Work out and eat right…a healthy body fuels a healthy mind.
  3. Surround yourself with happy positive people who will be there for you through the ups and the downs.
  4. Talk positively about your future and what you see.
  5. Make a gratitude journal about everything you are thankful for each day or each week so that you start to see everything you DO have.
  6. Get a life coach if you feel like you need some extra guidance.
  7. Tell other people things you like about them and support the amazing people in your life. I am telling you life is too short not to just be on the Upside!

I truly hope this post helps you reflect and learn some new ways on how to reach that peace of mind and calm sense within. I also hope that it helps you feel motivated to think and feel positively about this life we are given. Each day is a blessing. Make it count!

One of my favorite local Minnesota stores has got to be The Sota Shop  (thesotashop.com) Anytime I can rock a local company either in my city or another city I absolutely love it! The quality of the clothes and the originality of this brand is amazing.

They have hats, tees, sweatshirts, and other goods available. They are located in Osseo, MN and if you’ve never heard of them definitely check them out!

Spring Time Bomber Outfit Details

By | Fashion | 8 Comments

Outfit details:

bomber and jeans: Express

shoes: LuLus

crossbody bag: Aldo

beanie: betsy johnson found at Macy’s

Spring has sprung but there is still a chill in the air! I am LOVING this bomber jacket trend we are seeing. Bombers that are light weight like the one I am rocking are great because they can be used all year long. You will find that when it comes to fashion I like things that I can re use and have throughout the seasons changing. Another fun trend I was digging this year was booties with a fun chunk heal. I love topping an outfit off with a hat…surprise surprise! But this beanie is cozy and goes well with the girly feel of the bomber. The bright colors drew me to this bomber and I know I will be using it in the summer as well as a cover up at night when the temps drop. What are some of your favorite spring trends?

Flashback to Fall: Flannel & Fun Details

By | Fashion | 13 Comments

I love this look because it is so versatile. It can bring you into fall or come back and transition you into spring. Pairing a fun flannel over a cutout tee was my go to this fall. Since the flannel and tee shirt were so busy already I decide to pair it with black leggings and black boots. Keep those leggings in your closet! Leggings are a staple and never go out of style. I like to budget when it comes to fashion and recycle and re-use. Black leggings are something to keep and not have to splurge on later. Same with black boots! They are always in style, so again keep those boots!

One of my favorite places to shop to find random goodies is Target! This cross-body bag from Target is stylish and chic yet a third of the cost of a high end bag and it is super durable for use in each season.

Outfit details:

flannel: American Eagle

cutout t-shirt: Windsor Store

crossbody bag: Target

leggings: Bebe

boots: lucky brand (DSW)

Spring Trends: Baby Blue and Demin Hues

By | Fashion | 4 Comments

I love that denim on denim is back in! I also think blue is a color that you can wear together and each hue compliments each other fabulously. Another trend I am loving is the accesorizing of bandanas. I wore mine in my hair but they are being used at neck ties, work around the wrist or multiple ways in hair. I paired the outfit with perforated (another trend we are seeing a ton of this spring in shoes) booties and an amazing cross body southwest print bag. I always love pairing an outfit with something that has a bold print or pops. What are your favorite trends for spring?!

Sassy Style St. Paul

By | Fashion | One Comment

I loved this outfit for many reasons…1) I felt sassy as heck! Two it was really fun to pair all the gold details with the necklace, earrings and boots. When it comes to street style I say you can never be too bold. I love a classic leather jacket, and that’s one thing you can keep in your closet as a staple piece. Ripped jeans were huge this year and I feel like they add a little extra to an outfit. Step out of your comfort zone and you will be surprised at how fun it is!
